My name is Melody Loveless. I am an musician, creative technologist, multimedia artist, and educator based in New York City/Brooklyn. I have a varied body of work, ranging from generative sound installations, sculptures with embedded electronics, performance art, music for ensembles, and more.
Lately, my practice has revolved around my solo live coding performance, where I use Sonic Pi (a live coding synthesizer for music) to trigger rhythms and pitches while I sing and loop/manipulate my voice and play keyboard. One key feature of my set-up involves my live looping set-up, where I remix and loop my voice using code.
For work, I mostly teach courses in creative coding (regular and advanced) and live coding, alternating between NYU, the New School, and Hunter College. In these courses, I teach students how to work
I also teach privately, occasionally working at Harvestworks with their artists-in-residence or people enrolled in their Max MSP Certification Program.
